Description
Embark on an extraordinary ecological adventure through the Eastern Coastal Plains of the Dominican Republic with the Los Haitices National Park + Montaña Redonda tour. Departing from your hotel in modern, comfortable buses, you’ll travel along the scenic Coral Highway through Miches and Sabana de la Mar until reaching Caño Hondo, the gateway to Los Haitices.
Los Haitices is a vast karst formation stretching 82 km, renowned for its rich flora and fauna, including many endemic species. Begin your journey by boat through Caño Hondo, navigating the largest mangrove forest in the Caribbean. Along the way, spot diverse mangrove species, crustaceans, and birds. Visit Laguna San Lorenzo, a vital reserve for fish, crustaceans, and bird reproduction, surrounded by lush mangroves.
Next, explore two caverns adorned with ancient Taino petroglyphs and carvings, inhabited by bats and nocturnal birds. Discover the mogotes (limestone hills) scattered along the coast, home to dozens of bird species.
After this immersive ecological tour, enjoy lunch at the ecological Paraíso Caño Hondo Hotel, nestled at the foot of the mountain and fed by pure river water.
